The Department of National Defence is the government department responsible for Canada's military, known as the Canadian Forces.

Flight Track Data System (FTDS)
5 Wing Goose Bay & Goose Bay Office, Ottawa

Esper built the FTDS used by Allied Forces to capture details of low-level flight training missions at 5 Wing Goose Bay for environmental and noise abatement monitoring and to generate reports. The system was built using the Oracle database management system on a Windows server located at Goose Bay with workstations located throughout the base.

The database was designed and generated using Oracle Designer. The application was built using ESRI ArcView GIS and Oracle Developer (Forms & Reports). Dynamic restricted airspace configurations in the form of Shapefiles were uploaded nightly from Ottawa. Reports detailing the flying missions were produced on the server in Goose Bay and downloaded to the Goose Bay Office in Ottawa upon request.

Esper was responsible for all aspects of this turnkey development project, including project and management, requirements analysis and capture, system, software and database design, code development and testing, software integration, system and acceptance testing, on-site installation, user documentation, as well as data cleansing and migration from the previous system. The FTDS was developed at Esper's facility in Ottawa.

Esper has provided software maintenance and ongoing remote support for the installation at 5 Wing Goose Bay for a period of two years. The level of service was provided on a 12-hour, 6-day basis (12x6) with a 4-hour response time.
