Poule et ses petits
A gilded bronze by Jules Moigniez (1835 - 1894) embedded on a marble plinth. Signed along the base.
Jules Moigniez was a very talented French sculptor, his most plentiful subjects were game birds and animals; his first exhibit (pointer and pheasant) was in Paris 1855 at the Exposition Universelle, he was only twenty years old.
He was successful in France, in England and especially in America where the majority of his game bird sculptures were sold. Hauteur x largeur : 11.3 cm (4” 7/16) x 11.3 cm (4” 7/16)

Antoine-Pierre Aubert (France 1853 -1912)
Hauteur : 28 cm (11”)

A large Meissen group with a seated deity amidst puttis holding garlands, bellows (Vulcan attribute) and a peacock (Juno attribute). The winged, bald and mature deity is most likely Neptune, the god of the sea. It could be also Vulcan - the blacksmith god, also the most unsightly, Venus's husband.
Underneath: incised D82, impressed 61, painted 19 in ochre and crossed swords underglaze blue.
The group exhibits the taste of 19th Century with Neo-Classicism taste and strong palette. 22 cm x 22 cm (8” 5/8 x 8” 5/8)
