1995 - A referendum took place in Quebec to decide if Quebec should secede from Canada yes or no.
Friday, October 27, three days prior to the vote, a massive rally, known as the "Unity Rally", was held downtown Montreal, and an estimated 100,000 Canadians from outside Quebec came to plead with Quebecers to vote NO.
The YES was defeated by a very narrow margin: 49.42% against 50.58%
