| Flight Track Data System |
The FTDS is used by the Allied Forces to capture details of low-level flight training exercises at 5 Wing Goose Bay. Its purpose is to monitor adherence of the low flying activity to the environmental restrictions established by DND to minimize overflight disturbance to sensitive areas on the ground. The system uses an Oracle 9i server on a Windows 2000 server located in Goose Bay, and 10 client workstations placed throughout the base. The database was designed and generated using Oracle Designer 9i. The client application was built with the ESRI ArcView GIS and Oracle Developer 6i (Forms and Reports). Dynamic restricted airspace configurations (Shapefiles) are uploaded from Ottawa nightly. Reports detailing flight tracks are produced on the server and downloaded to the DND Ottawa facility upon request. Esper Consulting Inc. was responsible for all aspects of this fixed-price, turnkey development project, which included project management and planning, estimating, tracking and controlling resources, requirements analysis and capture, system, software and database design, code development and testing, software integration, system and acceptance testing, system installation, and user guide preparation. Esper Consulting Inc. provided ongoing software maintenance and remote support, including DB administration, for the installation at 5 Wing Goose Bay. |
